Trying to get Humpty Dumpty back together again at 1am in time to get to work at 9am? A technical impossibility...were it not for the miracle of The Right Stuff, Permatex's 90-minute RTV silicone sealant. It brings the same oil and chemical resistance to the table as Permatex's other RTV sealants, but with an added twist: a 90-minute return-to-service time.
As with other gray RTVs, The Right Stuff has high vibration resistance, making it ideal for diff covers, oil pans, and other applications where you're worried about vibration shaking bolts out. Clean both mating surfaces, apply a thin 1/8in to 1/4in bead, hand tighten until the sealant starts to ooze out, give it an hour of initial set time, then torque to spec. 90 minutes later you can add fluid and drive away!

Additional Technical Information
On newer engines found in FWD and AWD Volvos, special anaerobic sealant is used on the cast aluminum oil pans and valve covers/camshaft carriers. Do not use RTV when doing valve cover, cylinder head, or oil pan work, as RTV cures in a much thicker layer compared to the thin anaerobic sealant. Use Mahle, Elring, or Genuine Volvo anaerobic sealant instead.
