Nivomat Conversion Kit, AWD - P80 XC70 S70 V70 V70R

AWD P80 models sold in the US came with Nivomat self-leveling rear suspension. Unlike complicated active systems featuring air bags, compressors, and level sensors, Nivomat shocks have special valving inside which use the energy from going over bumps to "pump up" the rear shocks when hauling heavy loads.

Nivomats were a clever passive solution that avoided the complexity of things like air ride...but these shocks are very expensive, with no aftermarket options. Worse still, Volvo has discontinued many of these shocks, leaving many P80 AWDs left to drive around sagging and bouncing off their bump stops.

We've come up with a kit specifically designed to perk up that rear end. Standard shock absorbers replace the unobtanium Nivomat shocks, and we've paired them with matching stiffer springs designed to take over the load support work that the Nivomats used to help with.

With even OEM Volvo Nivomat shocks gone forever, this is the only non-custom way to get your car's ride back. Put an end to the sagging and bouncing!

Additional Technical Information

During installation, you'll have to re-use the spring and shock mount components currently on your car. On the spring mounts in particular, the upper mounts set ride height on XC vs standard ride height (S70/V70 AWD, V70R) models.

Product Fitment Notes & Potential Issues

AWD XC, R, and standard V70 models all, as far as we can tell, came with Nivomats in the US. S70 AWD cars occasionally came with standard shocks, so check your S70 for Nivomats with their distinctive accordion-style shock dust boot before ordering.
