It seems like Volvo has always made things heavier duty than they need to be and wheel bearings are no exception. Like most anything else, neglect is the main reason for failure. A good rule of thumb is to repack the wheel bearings every brake job. Just set aside the time to do it right.
Have on hand new seals and possibly a new pin and outer cap if it is bent up. Use good quality bearing grease designed for disc brakes. Inspect the bearings for wear and a dull finish and replace if necessary.
Our front wheel bearing kits include: inner and outer bearings, seals, retainer and cotter pin.
Kits are priced each and do one wheel.
About SKF
SKF has long history with the world’s top car manufacturers, especially with Volvo: Volvo Cars originally started as an SKF subsidiary, with SKF wanting to diversify from bearings in to the then-new automobile sector. Fast forward several decades, and modern Volvos still use SKF bearings.
As well as supplying OEMs, SKF brings their seal and bearing expertise to the aftermarket, with their core technical areas being wheel oriented, engine, drivetrain and suspension components.
With over a century of experience in bearings, seals, and lubrication technologies, there are few brands we trust more on our Volvos than SKF.
