Tailgate Lift Support Shock
Aftermarket - 101190
Product Description
Trunk supports don't last forever. They can age slowly or fail suddenly with sudden temperature changes. You'll realize the failure immediately when the lid suddenly contacts you -- usually in the head. These supports are exceptionally heavy duty and are the perfect answer for wagons with spoilers and/or speakers installed on the tailgate.
Early 240 wagons used a shock on one side to assist opening and a latching rod on the other end to lock it open. Starting in about 1979 Volvo instead outfitted the wagons with dual assist shocks and no more locking rod. Many earlier wagons have since been converted to this "dual assist" setup.
Wagons equipped with just one assist shock require a much stronger shock to lift the tailgate. This means while both style shocks can be physically fitted to the car, the power each style packs is much different and they are not meant to be interchangeable. If your car has assist shocks on both sides, this is the correct part for your Volvo. If your Volvo still has the single assist setup with just one shock, order IPD part number 101685 (see comparable products tab).

Available to Order means the item may not be in our warehouse but is readily available from one or more supplier warehouses. After you order it, we will get it for you ASAP.
Products from major brand names are almost always in stock in the manufacturer’s domestic warehouse. These suppliers have good fill rates, but even if they are out of stock, we may be able to source it from a variety of alternative wholesale sources.
We are at the most a week away from all these warehouses, usually much less. Does that mean we will always have your product available within that window? Honestly, we can't promise that but we’ll do everything we can to get your parts to you in a timely manner.
