Rear Axle Trailing Arm Bushing Tool

The rear axle trailing arms on solid axle Volvos use a fairly conventional bushing mounted in an unconventional way: instead of being pressed in to a full diameter sleeve, the bushing is is supported by on either end by mounting "ears." If you press out the bushing, you must use a spacer between the two ears to avoid bending them.

This Genuine Volvo tool is the perfect length and diameter for these trailing arm bushings. Paired with a spacer, you can safely press out your old bushings, press in new ones, and remove rear end clunks and wandering.

Additional Technical Information

The spacer tool that sits between the two bushing ears, 9995079, has long since been discontinued by Volvo. Its purpose was to slip between both ears to provide support as you crank down with press tool 9995079.

As it's a simple part that just needs to provide support between the ears, we suggest making an equivalent to the spacer: cut a short piece of 2 1/4" ID (or larger) pipe in half lengthwise, measure the distance between the ears, and then cut your piece of pipe down to that distance. Secure the spacer with zip ties or bailing wire to keep it in place while using it!
