Product Description
Volvo S40 models have a wiring harnes that passes from the body of the car to the trunk lid to send power to both the license plate lights and the trunk handle actuator. Continued opening and closing of the trunk lid over time can wear down and eventually break wires in the rubber convoluted boot where the wires pass from the body to the lid. When this happens you can lose power to the license lights or lose power the the tunk handle actuator meaning you'll no longer be able to open the trunk from the handle.
When this happens the best solution is full harness replacement.
